Empowering Teachers: Inside the Role of an SIS Trainer

As the SIS Trainer for Germany, I support teachers across all our seven German schools from Friedrichshafen to Berlin, helping them to feel confident delivering the SIS curricula. My work focuses on three main areas: information technology (IT), science, and literacy, where I aim to make the curriculum engaging and practical for both teachers and students.

In IT, I guide teachers on how to use technology effectively and responsibly in the classroom, from adopting digital tools that enhance learning to making our students aware of internet safety. When delivering the science curriculum, I focus on hands-on activities and projects that spark curiosity and help students connect with real-world concepts. With literacy, I share strategies to help teachers improve the student’s reading, writing, and communicationhelping them build essential skills for their future.

Another key part of my role is running workshops for teachers that are new to SIS schools. These sessions give the teachers a clear understanding of how to access and deliver the SIS curricula confidently, ensuring that all our seven schools in Germany are delivering the same high standard of teaching. I focus on practical advice and tips to help them feel confident and supported as they get started in their SIS career.

Twice a year, I travel to each one of our SIS schools across Germany. These visits are a chance to connect in person with staff, observe lessons, and offer direct support. Whether it’s giving feedback, brainstorming solutions, or introducing new ideas, I enjoy working closely with teachers to help them tackle challenges and celebrate successes.

I also play a role in school evaluations, being part of a team assessing the quality and effectiveness of our schools. The evaluation looks into how the school achieves its goals, supports student learning, and provides a safe and nurturing environment.

What I love most about this role is the variety, as each SIS school I visit has a strong individual charactera community bound together by the SIS principles and philosophy. I see it as a privilege to visit so many teachers and see them delivering a wide variety of lessons. My goal is to make their work easier, share useful tools and ideas, and ultimately help improve learning experiences for students.

Whether I’m travelling, leading a workshop, or collaborating on curriculum plans, I’m always looking for practical ways to support schools and encourage a positive, collaborative atmosphere. It’s rewarding to be part of a team that’s focused on growth, innovation, and making a difference.
